What PRV Is (and Why It Matters)
Post-remediation verification (PRV) checks the completed work against the written scope before reconstruction. It should confirm that the moisture source was corrected, specified materials were removed or cleaned, remaining materials are dry, and the work area is visibly clean without a musty odor.

- Moisture source fully repaired
- Remaining materials meet agreed dry-standard or reference readings
- Porous materials removed where required
- No ongoing condensation or leaks
Visual and Cleanliness
- No visible mold growth; residual staining is evaluated and documented
- Dust and debris removed from surfaces
- Specified final cleaning completed
- No musty odor remaining
Verification Steps
Independent Verification
Consider an independent verifier for large or complex work, a disputed scope, or a contract that requires third-party review. Agree in writing on the verifier, inspection steps, documents, moisture criteria, and any sampling criteria before remediation begins.
